Canning Projects - DFen911 - 07-17-2010 Ok got some apricots from a co-worker and made a batch of apricot jam. It was good, but I'll do less sugar next time. Well now I have 11 lbs of rosa plums So I'm going to start making a batch of plum preserves and plum BBQ sauce. Does anyone have a good supplier for jars/lids? I hate buying them at the grocery store. It's $9 for 12 1/2 pint jars. I have to think they've got to be cheaper if I order enough might even get free shipping. Re: Canning Projects - Gourmet_Mom - 07-17-2010 Sorry, Denise, I can't help you with this problem, either. I would love to see your plum BBQ sauce recipe, though. Re: Canning Projects - BarbaraS - 07-17-2010 Denise, I don't do canning, but how about checking out www.kitchenkrafts.com? Barbara Re: Canning Projects - esgunn - 07-17-2010 Denise, we have looked and haven't really found anything. We just try and watch for sales. WalMart can have some good prices. Look in places like drug stores, maybe a tuesday morning or those close out stores. They are a seasonal item so you find them in the summer at some odd places. If you do find something let me know. Re: Canning Projects - Lorraine - 07-18-2010 I'm with Erin. The only place I have seen them on sale is the dollar store, and only sometimes. when they do, I stock up. |
