Canning Projects - DFen911 - 07-17-2010

Ok got some apricots from a co-worker and made a batch of apricot jam. It was good, but I'll do less sugar next time.

Well now I have 11 lbs of rosa plums So I'm going to start making a batch of plum preserves and plum BBQ sauce.

Does anyone have a good supplier for jars/lids? I hate buying them at the grocery store. It's $9 for 12 1/2 pint jars. I have to think they've got to be cheaper if I order enough might even get free shipping.

Sorry, Denise, I can't help you with this problem, either.

I would love to see your plum BBQ sauce recipe, though.

Denise, we have looked and haven't really found anything. We just try and watch for sales. WalMart can have some good prices. Look in places like drug stores, maybe a tuesday morning or those close out stores. They are a seasonal item so you find them in the summer at some odd places.

If you do find something let me know.

I'm with Erin. The only place I have seen them on sale is the dollar store, and only sometimes. when they do, I stock up.
