What's for Dinner, Saturday, 10/30? - cjs - 10-30-2010

What's on everyone's menu for tonight?

I'm torn - I did a smoked pork shoulder for pulled pork yesterday. Now, I don't know which to do first, the Sweet potato nachos (idea from the casino a month or so ago) or the Cinnamon Pulled Pork Rolls someone brought to our attention. Decisions, decisions...

Also, I saw an idea for a hamburger, top a pattie with cheese, some pulled pork (mixed with bbq sauce), bacon strips. geez, does that sound over the top? (with a big old slice of onion)

I'd be going for the hamburger thing! Workday for us, so it will be a long day. Roasted two chickesn and lots of root veggies while we were at the winery prepping yesterday, so it will probably be leftovers at midnight.

I was going to try out a new recipe idea, but the employee is here, and I don't know if I want to try it with him here....don't really have enough of the ingredients either. I'll have to give this some thought.

So glad you asked I have leeks and cuke that need to be used so I did a quick search and found this:

some egg rolls for appy, wine (of course!) and possibly pumpkin caramel bacon bars for dessert (if not tonite then this week for sure)

We have dribs and drabs leftover from this week, so guess it will be a tapas kind of night. (That sounds better than leftovers) Since it got really cold overnight, also time for a pot of soup. Ron loved the Cauliflower Soup with blue cheese and bacon from issue #83, so it could be that.

This is all subject to change though...the kids might be going to an apple farm and asked us to go...

Cis, do you have any idea how long my "favorites" list is? And, a lot of it is you referring to these darn blogs that I have to add. (sounds really good, too)

I'll let you know how it turns out. So simple and good, what could be bad....... I'll let ya know

We wound up having spaghetti last night so tonight it will be the grilled pork tenderloin with a mango bbq sauce. I hope my 99 cent asparagus is still ok - LOL. If not I have corn to make.

That hamburger sounds to die for.

I've got a big pot of knoephla soup going, and some smoked venison sausage heating up. We've been invited to the yacht club for a World Series party so we'll be taking it down there.

I'm not exactly thrilled about this - two people I pretty much can't abide will be there. Yesterday I had a flu shot, and a Tetanut, Diptheria, & Pertussis shot plus the Doctor doubled the dose on one of my meds.

If this game goes past 9 innings . . . .

Oh, Sharon, more wine....to help you deal teehee

Just checking in to tell you the chicken, cukes and leeks was really really good. James gives it a solid 8 and says, "Make this again, ok" This is such a quick and simple recipe. Ready in minutes and lots of unexpected flavors going on YUM
