Thanks in advance!German Chocolate Pie Ingredients 3 cups sugar 7 tablespoons baking cocoa 13 ounces evaporated milk 4 eggs, Beaten 1/2 cup butter or regular margarine 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups coconut, Flaked 1 cup pecans, Chopped 2 unbaked 9-inch deep dish pie shells Directions 1 Melt the margarine and set aside. 2 Combine the sugar and baking cocoa in a bowl. 3 Stir in the evaporated milk, eggs, melted butter or margarine, and vanilla, blending well. 4 Stir in the coconut and pecans and turn into two unbaked pie shells. 5 Bake in a 350°F oven for 40 minutes or until set around the edges. 6 Cool on racks-do not cut warm! Re: German Chocolate Pie question - DFen911 - 04-12-2011 I wouldn't I don't think the sugar on the nuts will affect the baking at all or the flavor much. Re: German Chocolate Pie question - Harborwitch - 04-12-2011 Thanks - I went ahead with the recipe as written. It's in the oven now. Talk about a simple pie!!! Re: German Chocolate Pie question - DFen911 - 04-12-2011 I already copied and saved Re: German Chocolate Pie question - Harborwitch - 04-13-2011 We just had this pie. All I can say is DO NOT even think about making this! I cannot think of another pie that is so so freakin' decadent, horrendously incredibly amazingly GOOD! It's German chocolate cake crossed with heaven!!! Re: German Chocolate Pie question - cjs - 04-13-2011 Oh Lordie..... Re: German Chocolate Pie question - Gourmet_Mom - 04-13-2011 Sharon! That's like throwing down the gauntlet...issuing a dare! Good thing I don't particularly care for coconut. If I don't tell William about it, I should be safe....LOL! Re: German Chocolate Pie question - cjs - 04-13-2011 I don't either, but I'm finding there are some dishes I really do like with coconut. My tastes are mellowing, I guess. Re: German Chocolate Pie question - Gourmet_Mom - 04-13-2011 I like the flavor, just not the texture. Although, it's been years since I tried anything with coconut in it....HMMMM? Oh goodness, I CAN'T be talking myself into this....NOOOOO! Re: German Chocolate Pie question - cjs - 04-13-2011 Why not? I almost have.... |
