Boy it's hot today! - bjcotton - 11-05-2008

We finally (at 4:15 PM) made it over the 50° mark. It's been in the mid to high 40's for the last couple of days. How about your weather...snow, ice?

We hit 22C today, which is close to 75. Very nice for this time of the year.

This is our good time of the year (short, in two servings culinarily speaking)--lows in the 50s & 60s, highs in the mid to upper 70s. Friday our lows may be in the 40s. Nice!! Ask me in July!!!

I'm with Bill! Very nice...now that the rain has stopped. Although, if I didn't have to go to work, the rain is nice every now and then....for sleeping in! AND the weather is really helping my garden! Collards and cabbage are looking really nice! YUM!

BTW...I WILL plant garlic this year! Isn't it that time?

This week has been our "Indian Summer." 70 degrees all week and just gorgeous. Today is suppose to be the last day. Sure wish autumn lasted a little longer.

Yes, it is. I try to get it planted before the first frost.

We have rain for a couple hours then a little sunshine and back to rain....

I wonder if collards would grow here, probably; but, Paul wouldn't eat them.

Guess I'd better get the jalapenos and bells in, even though the bells are still green, and roast them. Although I prefer the milder ripe bells and Paul only eats them when they're green. To me, if you use very much of the green bells it takes over the flavor of the dish.

Gosh Billy, I wish I could send you some. For whatever reason, I've got about 30 collard plants and 45 cabbage- red and green. I don't know what William was thinking...LOL! I guess I'll be doing some freezing over Thanksgiving...LOL!

BTW, what to do with all that cabbage? I don't know how to do 'kraut. Is there anything else I can do to preserve it?

I really don't know what you can do with it. I only buy what I need at the time, so haven't really thought about it. I'll bet someone here has some ideas.
