Re: Czech-ing in for a roast-pork dinner - labradors - 08-10-2009 Thanks for the interesting comments, everyone. Denise, read my "One final note" in the original message. Re: Czech-ing in for a roast-pork dinner - Trixxee - 08-10-2009 That looks so good! Good meal during Oktoberfest no doubt.... Re: Czech-ing in for a roast-pork dinner - okey_gnocchi - 08-11-2009 I am 100% Czech and I got a hankering for the Czech plum dumplings I remember from my childhood. So I pulled up a recipe and made the attempt. I goofed in that my plums were too ripe. The skins split as I was trying to shape the dough around them. Then the dough tore....sigh. However, I remembered that you ended up cutting the dumplings on your plate anyway, so no harm was really done except for the aesthetics. I sprinkled sugar, melted butter, and cottage cheese on top. My mom reminded me that I was supposed to use the dry cottage cheese but I couldn't find it. It was a fun experiment! |
