I finally found something I think is very doable for an outdoor brick/adobe oven. It's really cute too.

I assume you mean 'who' and I have volunteered my hubby. THIS is something he can build. He was a stucco man for 20+ years. He always loves a project where he can show off his skills. Now he just supervises and inspects projects so this will be 'fun' for him. Plus he has access to nearly all of the materials.
I just have to find some fire brick, for cheap.

I got mine from Los Angeles Oven Works. Jean has a dough recipe in her little book that we use!! Have fun!!

I stumbled across that alforno website yesterday. Nice ovens! Pretty spendy though. I wanted something we could do for under $200.
For as often as we would use it, seems more feasible.

Thank you for posting this Laura. This is something Bob and I have been wanting to do that isn't cost prohibitive.
Now we just have to figure out where we could build it... and get ready for the flack when our "farm-mates" come back.
