Do any of you own an ice cream maker?
Last week I purchased the Cuisinart 2 Qt ice cream maker. It is very simple - on/off. You have to freeze the mixing bowl first which I did for 24 hours. They say to shake it to make sure it's frozen. Didn't hear any sloshing noise. So in went the sorbet mixture. Which the instructions said that once the cooked mixture cools to room temp you can pour it in and let it rip. Should take about 25-35 minutes. 1 hour later it's like a runny slushy and the bowl is now thawed.
I'm grumpy.
I put the mixture into the freezer and it seems to have frozen up nicely.
Next adventure - Raspberry Gelato. Bowl has been in the freezer for 36 hours and still is not frozen. I even moved it to a different shelf. The gelato mixture is in the fridge and has been for almost 72 hours now.
I'm so frustrated...it's now going on 72 hours, bowl is still not 100% frozen and I'm worried the mixture is going to spoil before I get a chance to make it and it was a lot of work!
I need an ice-cream maker that works, but doesn't require I buy salt.
Sorry for the long rant. Just so frustrated because these things aren't cheap.
