From "The Best Clam Chowder":

1 # sized potatoes, peeled, and cubed into half inch cubes

Does it mean 1 pound?

Yes, that is the symbol for pound. So how about the rest of the recipe? I would like to judge if it is in fact the "best"!

I don't know about the can sizes. So, now it's after 5 and I'm distracted easily, so I looked for what the meaning of # really is and found an interesting website, Symbols.com that explains probably every symbol ever drawn since the beginning of time!
