In the hints dept. of this month's issue, Michael Vaughn suggested soaking skewers in a wine bottle - what a great idea!
He suggested corking it to keep them submerged, but mine are longer, so just put plastic wrap around the top.
Before I was laying them in a 1/4-sheet pan with water and a dish set on top to keep submerged. And, we 'often' have empty wine bottles available...............................
