I made this pie - (only one pie) boy does it smell good in here. I cannot wait to start eating it.

Ingredients
3 cups sugar
7 tablespoons baking cocoa
13 ounces evaporated milk
4 eggs, Beaten
1/2 cup butter or regular margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups coconut, Flaked
1 cup pecans, Chopped
2 unbaked 9-inch deep dish pie shells

Directions
1 Melt the margarine and set aside.
2 Combine the sugar and baking cocoa in a bowl.
3 Stir in the evaporated milk, eggs, melted butter or margarine, and
vanilla, blending well.
4 Stir in the coconut and pecans and turn into two unbaked pie shells.
5 Bake in a 350°F oven for 40 minutes or until set around the edges.
6 Cool on racks-do not cut warm!
You only live once . . . but if you do it right once should be enough!

I wouldn't I don't think the sugar on the nuts will affect the baking at all or the flavor much.

Thanks - I went ahead with the recipe as written. It's in the oven now. Talk about a simple pie!!!

We just had this pie. All I can say is DO NOT even think about making this! I cannot think of another pie that is so so freakin' decadent, horrendously incredibly amazingly GOOD! It's German chocolate cake crossed with heaven!!!

I don't either, but I'm finding there are some dishes I really do like with coconut. My tastes are mellowing, I guess.

I like the flavor, just not the texture. Although, it's been years since I tried anything with coconut in it....HMMMM? Oh goodness, I CAN'T be talking myself into this....NOOOOO!
