City Fresh

I'm so excited about joining. The hospital where Heather works is one of the stops for City Fresh. All produce is grown locally and delivered at the same time each week. They have two sizes and you can order weekly, or sign up for the whole summer.

Here is a list of a few orders from last summer:

Share bags will change from week to week depending upon what has been harvested. Here are some samples from July and September Fresh Stops in 2011. In addition to the items below, you can also expect to see during the season some other highlights, including peaches, watermelons, strawberries, blueberries, black and red raspberries, whole wheat flour, dry beans, and much more. At some Fresh Stops where refrigeration is available, we will also be taking special orders for free-range eggs and local cheese.

Maryann, I am realign enjoying my weekly box of organic produce from Full Circle.

This last week we got tomatoes, spinach, yellow crookneck, red pepper Yukon gold potatoes, crimini mushrooms, strawberries, nectarines, plums, and I swapped chard for a mango.

It is a lot of fun, and the kids like finding what is in our box each week. I have gotten them to eat a lot more greens and zucchini than they would before.

Jean, this is the one we use Full Circle

The great things about it that interested me:
4 box sizes
You can change box sizes or cancel a box for a week at a time.
If you don't like something or don't want it that week: swap for a different ingredient.
All are organic and local when available.

Looks like Port Gamble is the farthest north over there though for pick up.

We are thinking about doing the same - but it's a storage issue. We have two farmers' markets and a couple of fruit stands close so we try to go every week.

So, Heather got us signed up today. She stopped by after work and was telling me that she was sorry that we missed out on the first week's shipment, which was today. In addition to fruits and vegetables, the boxes also included a jar of apple butter and a jar of maple syrup! I think this is going to be a lot of fun.
