Unless there's an actual physical or electronic problem with the connection (in which case, try plugging the keyboard into a different connector or try a different keyboard), it could be that the keyboard setting in Windows got changed.
Look at the very last line of the screen to see if there is a small "button" there with two letters in it. If it's there (no problem if it isn't) and if it is anything BUT "en" then something may have happened to set Windows to expect a keyboard for a different language (e.g. "fr" for French, "es" for Spanish, etc.). If it IS different, click the button and select "en" from the choices.
If that's not it, then consider what I said, above, about a different connector or different external keyboard.
