Re: (...)
What's on the menu for everyone today??
I have one more humungous artichoke to split, but don't know what else - maybe the pasta I tried to have a couple days ago. Now, the (good-natured) whining, "no meat???"

Ha, sounds like Tony!
I did not make the french onion soup yesterday so I might attempt that today.

I feel good, thanks Jean. OK, already a change in plans. Tony bought a pre-cooked corned beef from Costco last week as they didn't have a single uncooked one. WIll heat that up and we are going to have Reuben sandwiches. I'm hoping the meat will be ok - I've bought precooked ones from Trader Joe's before and they were just great. You'd never know you didn't do it yourself.

Nice to know Trixxee! I will keep that in mind if I ever see one.
Tonight is ribs on the grill, homemade coleslaw (recipe from old Joy of Cooking), French rolls, and beer!

The Austin Food & Wine Festival is this weekend. I'm working it because my company sponsors it but one of the perks is getting to go to the "extra" VIP evening events. Tonight's event is "Rock Your Taco." Chefs like Jonathan Waxman, Marcus Samuelsson, Tyson Cole and Tim Love make their best take on a taco and we get to walk around and taste small-bite presentations of them. Andrew Zimmern is one of the judges. It's all very exciting for me. We've got a cheese booth set up today and tomorrow during the day which has also been exciting. I''ll try to post some pictures next week.

I sure wish I was in Austin tonight, that sounds like fun.
Tonight my wife is making what Karyn made last Saturday. Bisteca ala Panzano’s.
