What's on the menu for everyone today??

I'm making Hamburguesa Tortas, a dinner Blane made a while back from issue #112. I made up the patties yesterday and they smell so good, could hardly wait for today!! We're going bunless since I have some of the fries from the Casino dinner Saturday night.

We loved that torta.

Today it's baked blueberry French toast with sausage.

Must try the torta. It did look good.

We had a big lunch out with my dad today, so not really feeling much like having dinner. Maybe some tomato soup later tonight.

As promised, I am not making anything new again today. Ashley is still out of town. On the way home from Southport today, I remembered that last pack of meatballs in the freezer. One of William's old favorites is spaghetti and all I really needed was the canned tomatoes for the sauce. Leftover Caesar Salad from last night will round out the meal.

Well, I won't post a picture of the tortas - melting the cheese over the top you can't see anything any way! But, the flavors are just wonderful. And, the funny thing is, even tho I made the patties yesterday, I can smell the flavors on my hands from just cooking them. I drizzled them with candied jalapenos and wow, what a nice addition.

This is such a great flavored patty. I made 4, so I'll serve them as regular burgers on Wednesday. Make them Maryann, you won't be sorry.

But, this is a picture I will post. The darn deer ate the silk off the forming corn cobs and I didn't know if they would continue to grow. but look what I found yesterday. Somehow another deer got in and broke one of the stalks. So, I guess I'll let them grow, didn't know they would. (does this make any sense??)

And, my jalapenos are going crazy with one little plant.

We had the Mahi Mahi tonight. Blackened in Cajun seasonings and clarified butter it was delicious! I think it is a Gulf fish and south Atlantic fish. Jean when you get back down here we will have some. Be well.

Jean, when the silk is gone no more kernels will will form for lack of pollination. The silks carry the pollination to the cob. I forget if there are male and female stalks or if they are both.

They are a warm water fish worldwide and caught in many places. They are pretty abundant in Hawaii. Nothing like it caught fresh that morning and on your plate that evening with a Mai Tai and balmy wind.

I have got to get to Costco. Blackened with clarified butter sounds awesome. Can pretend I'm on vacay.

That makes sense, Bill.
Daphne, I've always had a battle with the deer vs. my gardens, but I really thought I had the corn safely fenced. Each house/yard has different configurations and needs to have a safe garden. we'll learn this year and be on top of it next year.
