OT: Open for business

Thursday was my first day at the farmers' market. From what other vendors were saying, it was a slow day, but I did get a few sales.

Just to get started, I took some of the English-Muffin Bread and the Brioche Hamburger Buns.

I'm planning to add some kind of pies or tarts the next time. Shall be looking into some of your earlier suggestions.

I'm starting off slowly, but I wanted to have at least some sales and income for this year and to establish my presence for the coming year.

Great news, Labs! Is the farmer's market in Orlando? My sister-in-law goes to one in Winter Park every Saturday that is quite popular.

Forgive me if you've already mentioned chutneys, but are they a product you could work with??

The reason I ask - just saw a Bacon Walnut chutney that sounds delicious!! Be easy to make it your (or in my case....my) own.

And ALL of the things that make me happy are on your NO GO list except the breads, rolls and biscuits.

That's a frustrating list of exclusions! Good luck with the baked goods. I'm sure your product is delicious.

One thought I do have for you, however, is shrubs. I've really been enjoying a shrub (vinegar enhanced with fruit, herbs, and sugar) that you might be able to make work. The one I bought at a farmer's market in Athens, GA is peach and thyme (for $18...yikes!) is amazing and I think there are an innumerable number of combinations that you could play with. I'm trying to give up diet coke, so I've been drinking a splash of the shrub in club soda. It's pretty darn tasty! You can also use it in all sorts of cocktails....just a thought!
