Re: (...)
These are so good. My SIL eats the entire batch every time she makes them!
I really wanted to call them
Sugar Brown's Brown Sugar Sugar Cookies I thought that sounded really great. But really they are just:
Brown Sugar Sugar Cookies 1 cup shortening
½ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 t. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 t. soda
1 t. cream of tartar
½ t. salt
Cream together shortening and sugars. Add egg and vanilla and beat. Mix together flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt. Add to shortening mixture. Roll into 1” balls. Dip balls in sugar and flatten with glass. Bake on greased pan at 375 degrees until edges are lightly browned about 10-12 minutes.

Hi PJ! I used light brown sugar. This is an old family recipe of my MIL's. She is known in the family as the 'Cookie Queen' because she makes wonderful cookies and she is a cookie perfectionist.

Sounds like she's one sharp cookie when it comes to cookies...
Nice looking recipe...will try it as soon as I can stand for more than 10 minutes without getting dizzy.

Laura, these sound so crispy and delicious. I've not made sugar cookies in years. Another Easter project! DD will love this. We have been trying to make at least one batch of cookies every holiday for the past couple years.
