Sweetheart Tart

  Re: (...)
I got this recipe from an old friend 100 years ago and had forgotten about it. I have no idea from where it originates, so I hope I am not remiss in sharing it. I made it to take over to Laura's(okey gnocchi) last night.

Sweetheart Tart

Baked 9 inch pie shell
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate, chopped
8 oz pkg cream cheese, room temp
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 Tbl brandy
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup red jam
strawberries, washed, hulled, and halved.

Melt chocolate and spread over bottom of pie crust. Let cool 15 minutes.

Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar. Add cream, brandy and vanilla and mix well. Spread over chocolate and refridgerate 30 minutes.

Arrange strawberries on top of cream cheese mixture.

Melt and strain jam and glaze the strawberries with it.

Refridgerate at least 3 hours.

Changes I made:
I thinned the chocolate with a bit of cream, but next time might try Chambord or brandy.
I drizzled more chocolate on top. We left it out a few hours before serving.

It was really good and very easy to make.

This sounds yummy. It would be a great Valentine's dessert...reminds me of chocolate dipped strawberries. With strawberry plants popping up in the fields around here, it won't be long before I'll have fresh ones to try this with.
