Sarah Palin Recipe???????
#7
  Re: (...)
Ran across a recipe to try with some of the cod we have in the freezer and didn't even look at the submitter until I was putting it together...good little bleeding heart liberal that I am, I decided to go with it.

It was really quite good - just was surprised when I saw her name.

Sweet and Saucy Grilled Salmon

Recipe By :Sarah Palin, Wasilla, Alaska
Serving Size : 4

1 12-ounce can tomato sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon dried bell pepper dices
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
4 4-ounce Alaska salmon fillets or steaks (4 to 6 ounces each)

Blend all ingredients, except seafood, in bowl; let set 10 to 15 minutes.

Dip seafood into sauce, then place on hot oiled grill, not directly over heat source (coals or gas). Cover and vent. Cook about 6 to 12 minutes per inch of thickness, brushing with extra sauce, if desired. Do not overcook or burn edges.

Also great with Alaska halibut or cod!

Thanks, Jean, that does sound good, mostly with salmon though. Not sure if we would like it with cod. Never do anything sweet with cod, so that would be a new flavor for us.

I did use it with cod and we really liked it. Anxious to try it with salmon, but just used my last pkg. So will do it soon.

This does sound good. I haven't had salmon in a while. Copied and saved!

I think it would be better to simmer the sauce a while to meld the flavors rather than letting it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

Curious, when was it copyrighted? I'd guess it was when Sarah was just a hockey mom.

could be, Jeanette, but it was very tasty as is.

Just looked and couldn't find any dates, but she was still in Wasilla, Alaska - if that means anything.
