Bourbon Vs Canadian Whisky
#6
  Re: (...)
Ok, all you bourbon purists, please close this and don't get mad at me.

In a recipe (not drinking straight) is there much flavor difference with real southern bourbon and canadian whisky? I don't care to drink either but have quite a few recipes to try that call for bourbon - but I have VO Canadian whisky.

Thanks
Erin

Big difference!! East is East, and West is West, or whatever--N/S/E/W. Follow the recipe or you will change the dish. (I don't drink much bourbon or Canadian either).

Bill is correct. It has been a very long time, but if memory serves, Kentucky Bourbon has a deeper richer flavor than Canadian whiskey. It would make a good bit of difference in your recipe.

I'll stick with single-malt.

Canadian whiskey is sweeter - real Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the bomb. Jack Daniels does not get included in that category - Maker's Mark, Knob Creek, Jim Beam, and Early Times are good bourbons.
You only live once . . . but if you do it right once should be enough!
